New to Massage?
Here are a few things to know:
Undress to your comfort level and your therapist will keep you covered except for the area they are massaging.
Please let your therapist know if the pressure is too much or too little, or if you are too hot or too cold. Your therapist wants to create the best experience for you, but you need to communicate your preferences.
The customary tip is 20% of the price of the massage (not the insurance copay).
New to Thai Massage?
Thai massage is an ancient practice from the Traditional Medicine of Thailand. The techniques are believed to have come from the self-care practice of the Yogis of Thailand, exercises and stretches known as Reusi Da Ton. For thousands of years Thai massage has been practiced by professionals and within households as preventative and restorative care.
A multitude of techniques and tools are used in Thai massage, allowing each session to address the client's specific needs. Techniques include: Compression - to bring circulation to the tissue, improving muscle quality and reducing muscle pain and soreness. Passive Stretching - to improve flexibility and increase range of motion. Working the Sen lines - these are energetic channels and points throughout the body (nerve, blood and bone) that the therapist will use deep pressure with the thumb to release tension in and bring movement to.
The benefits of Thai massage include:
Increased circulation and improved muscle tone
Increase range of motion in joints and improve muscle flexibility
Assists in recovery from injury
Helps reduce chronic pain symptoms
Decrease stress - muscular and emotional
Improves quality of life, invigorated sense of self and connection to one's physical being
Thai massage is done on a mat on the ground. Both therapist and client will be moving and stretching therefore comfortable, loose clothing must be worn. Sweats or yoga pants and a t-shirt are recommended. Please do not wear short shorts or short skirts.
Please arrive early to display your insurance card, do any paperwork, and settle into the space.
Please note that we have limited buffer time between appointments, so if you are running late, it may affect the overall length of your massage.
We do charge the full appointment fee (not the insurance copay) for appointments cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment time. If you'd like to avoid that fee, you are welcome to send someone in your place.
We charge this fee because last minute cancellations affect our providers' ability to earn an income. We do make exceptions in emergencies, but otherwise please plan on respecting this policy.
Blue Sky Wellness Studio is unique in that we offer all types of natural medical care, and work together as a team.
If you are wondering which type of treatment is best for you, please call us. For many cases, we will recommend 2 or more types of treatment to resolve your condition from all necessary angles.
